Sample of a
Scrapbook Page
Created in Word 2007
I created the following Digital Scrapbook page with Microsoft Word 2007.
I converted the file to a PDF, to display it here. In doing so, I
noticed some interesting changes to the original file.
When you open the first link, you
will notice a photo labeled "Patrick gives Santa his wish list".
That image has been tilted.
(For directions on how to tilt click here.)
If you will notice, in this PDF file,
the photo appears to be torn. In the original Word 2007 file, the
photo did not have that appearance. As a scrapbook page, it would
print with no problem. Yet, if you converted it to a PDF file, with the
intention of using it for printing, there would be a problem.

I then straightened the photo on the Word document, and converted it to a new PDF file. When I looked at the new PDF, the photo had disappeared, and the placeholder was green. When I originally placed the photo on the page, I added a green border. I am assuming, the green box was from the border. (For directions on how to add a border click here).

I removed the border, and re-tilted the image, yet once again the photo appeared torn. It looked torn with or without a border, and when tilted. So, I left the border off, and straightened the border, and the photo in the PDF file looked whole again.

If you are planning to convert your Word scrapbook pages to PDF, you
will want to look for anomalies such as this. What works in your Word
Doc, may change when converting to PDF.
The Christmas tree border on the page is one of the art choices in Word
2007 border options.
(Page Layout > Page Borders>Page Border>Art)
The title of the page, and the tilted caption "Patrick gives Santa his wish list" was created with “Word Art”.
(Insert > Word Art)
The captions were created using the text box.
(Insert>Text Box>Simple Text Box)
The lines and background color was removed from the text box.
Double Right click on the text box, then:
(Format Text Box> Fill (no
color) & line (no) color)
The clipart was used by inserting Microsoft clip art.
(Insert>Clip Art>)
Complete clip art search window that
then pops up to the right of the
screen
